7 More Methods of Motivation

Part two in our list of methods of motivation to help you with your weight loss!

8. Keep one pair of "fat" jeans.
Image how it will feel when you put them on and realize that - without a belt - they'd come falling down.
9. Make it manageable.
Strive to integrate a workout into your life at a manageable pace. Keep it at 20-30 minutes to start and gradually raise it to keep it accomplishable.
10. Hate to run? Then don't!
Instead - pick an activity that you enjoy. Working out doesn't have to be work.
11. Swing your partner round and round...
Or take a walk together, or dance. Find something enjoyable that you and a friend can do together. Use the buddy system for motivation and to hold one another accountable.
12. Do a 30-day challenge.
See if you can rise to the occasion! Put in rewards and recruit others to be part of it.
13. Make it routine.
Put your workout in your calendar just as you would an appointment. This consistency will make you more consistent at doing it.
14. Listen to your body.
If you feel you are overdoing it - you probably are. Rest and allow your body to recover. If you feel sharp pain or pain in your joints, stop immediately.

What do you think?  Do you have any tips to offer our readers>?  Have you used any of the tips in this part successfully?

These tips are great especially the one about keeping a pair of big jeans. Keep up the tips & ideas.

Maintenance is the absolute hardest part...losing has lost its excitment, perhaps people have stopped making over you as much & you realize that its all up to you. Scarey, huh?

Just keep saying to yourself..."my body feels great now that I am eating healthy & exercising". Remind yourself how far you've come & promise yourself that you will never go back. You are the only one in the whole world that can do this for YOU!

One last tip: Decide on a "danger weight", one you will never allow yourself to go above. I personally feel that a "tight" danger weight works best. One of the best ways to stay at goal is to do 1-2 "supplement only" days when your weight gets close to your danger zone.

Here's to maintaining,

Hi Donna -

Again, another great set of tips! I think what I would add to your part about how people may have stopped making as big a deal about your accomplishment as they did previously is this: you lost your weight for yourself. Never forget that. Revel everyday in your accomplishment and compliment yourself. Be your own biggest fan!

And I think that your "danger" weight idea and having supplement only days, if needed, is a good one. You’ve already proven that the supplements can help you to get to where you want to be – so use all the resources you have to be successful!

Thanks again for the great tips – and look for the last installment tomorrow!

Oh, I definitely believe it is about what we are doing for ourselves. Sometimes the applause & attention keep clients going, we just want them to be aware that there might be the "let down" after being at goal weight for awhile.

Have clients come up with a "ritual" that they do daily...like drinking a glass of warm water with lemon upon rising ea. morning. This says "today, I am eating healthy, moving more & feeling great".

Don't you think it is a mindset, hard to describe but easily recognized in ourselves?. DO NOT let doubt creep in...speak as if losing weight & keeping it off is not only possible but going to happen.

Here's to happy losing & easy maintaining!
