So Thankful: One Dieter's Experience on the NutriMed Program

What are you thankful for this year? Be it health, happiness, material goods, or something entirely different, the rapidly approaching holiday makes us evaluate the past year and reflect on the good in our lives.
Jon Mason’s journey on the NutriMed diet this past year has helped his 2010 to be “a truly outstanding year and one I will never forget,” and so I would like to share his story – in his own words – with you.
Hi! My name is Jon Mason. I am 50 years old and live in Independence, KY with my wife of 21 years and three teenage children.
This past February 2010 I was at my Doctor’s for my six month check up when he came into the room and said that my weight had reached almost 250 pounds and that he would need to put me on another blood pressure prescription. The problem with that is I was already on 4 blood pressure prescriptions and a cholesterol prescription too.
My Doctor said to me “Jon, you have got to do something with your weight, immediately.” After that comment I went home and started thinking about what he said. I decided to get on the internet to find out about bariatric weight loss. Our local hospital advertised their bariatric weight loss clinic and the next day I called.
Two days later I had an appointment with their Clinical Director at the hospital. As I drove to the hospital I had a million things going through my mind about another diet or in my case another “failed” diet attempt. As I walked to the building above the door was a welcoming sign that read “Welcome to the Bariatric Center”. I thought, really, how did I get here? I then looked around to see if anyone was watching me walk in. How humbling the steps through the door became.
I met with the Clinical Director for the NutriMed Liquid-Protein Diet and was introduced to what the next few months of my life would be like. My first appointment was scheduled for March 1, 2010 at 9am at the hospital. I anxiously waited the next week for that appointment. My lab work had been completed and waiting for me when I arrived at the hospital. I was asked to get on the scale and my starting weight was 245.6 pounds. We discussed my goal weight of 188 pounds and then I was informed of how long I would actually need to be on the liquid diet. My magic number was 12 weeks. Wow, 12 weeks without food. How can you survive? You do, and I realized, you can do anything once you set your mind to it. Actually the first couple of weeks are pretty hard, but the results, even the first couple of weeks are well worth the food sacrifice. After the second week it does get easier and easier each week thereafter. It is a commitment, but a commitment worth it to the end.
I like the program from the very beginning and it was important for me that it was clinical all the way. I had a wonderful clinical support team that I met with each week and with their encouragement I realized that I could do this. The programs was medically supervised, well monitored, and with my best interest always.
I came off of the liquid portion of the diet and then stayed 5 weeks on the re-feed program. After 17 weeks on the NutriMed liquid protein diet I had lost 70 pounds. My current weight is 176 pounds. I lost a total of 28 ¾ inches off of my whole body. I used to wear a 2 extra large shirt and I am now down to a medium or large depending on how it is made. My waist was a 40”to 41” and I now have a 32” waist. My four blood pressure prescriptions and one cholesterol prescription has been completely removed since May of this year. I am now prescription free for the first time in 16 years!
I did join a gym the 2nd week of my diet and continue to go 5 to 6 times per week. This is essential to your weight loss as your body tends to go “south” quickly.
If you are serious in losing weight, really serious and all of the other diets that you have tried in the past have failed, or you gained your weight back, and then some (been there, done that) this is the program for you.
I am very glad of the choice that I made to go on the NutriMed Liquid Diet program and would highly recommend it to anyone.
It is the one diet that will change your life, not only while on the program, but well after the program too. The program from the very beginning changes your bad eating habits and allows you to develop healthier choices and a complete new lifestyle.
