Bring “The Biggest Loser” to Your Center

As a weight loss program and product provider, many of us here at Robard spend our days talking diets, nutrition, exercise and the like. But starting January 13th, we decided it was time for a little less conversation and a little more action. To help our employees work towards the healthier, happier lives we promote every day, Robard is running a “Biggest Loser” type competition and partnering with the Pound for Pound Challenge to donate a pound of food to local food banks for every pound pledged to lose by a Robard employee.

Consider bringing some of the facets of this type of program into your center (or even your workplace) by:

  • Appealing to your dieter’s competitive spirit: The nature of the challenge is that individuals want to be the biggest loser. So allow those vying for it to receive some bragging rights by having a leader board to show others who and what they’re up against. And, of course, make sure there is a prize for the biggest loser (more on this below).
  • Offering incentives: Yes, the main goal of the program is to lose weight, but a little added incentive never hurt. It doesn’t have to be something huge or tangible, but should be something that will help the biggest loser continue his or her healthy lifestyle. Some things Robard is offering employees: WiiFit, an MP3 player, fitness classes, and cooking classes.
  • Providing resources: If you’re a weight loss counselor/center, you are probably already providing resources on diet and exercise, if not, Robard has materials we offer our customers.
  • Going philanthropic: Create a team with the Pound for Pound Challenge (www.pfpchallenge.com) and have your dieters pledge how many plans they wish to lose. For every pound pledged, Pound for Pound donates 11 cents (enough to secure one pound of food) to your local food bank. Not only will your dieters be losing weight, they’ll be doing good for those less fortunate.

Have you done this – or a similar type of program – in your center or office? Let us know what worked (and what didn’t) so others can follow your example.
